Bank interest rates today, August 4, recorded a notable development as BIDV unexpectedly raised its online deposit rates sharply across many terms, pushing its highest level to 7.4% per year. Meanwhile, some banks are still applying special interest rates of up to 8.3% per year for customers who meet their specific conditions.
Among the surveyed banks, HDBank continues to list the highest rate, up to 7.6% per year, for deposits that meet specific conditions. In addition, the general interest rate level at many other banks recorded no significant changes.
BIDV bank interest rates today
The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has just sharply raised its online deposit rates for terms from 6 to 36 months.
According to the newly updated online deposit interest rate schedule for interest paid at maturity, the 6-11 month and 13-36 month terms were both raised by BIDV to 7.2% per year. The 12-month term alone carries the highest rate, reaching 7.4% per year.
Compared with before, rates for the 6-12 month terms rose by 0.6 percentage points, while the 13-36 month group increased by 0.4 percentage points.
For terms under 6 months, BIDV kept deposit rates for 1-5 months unchanged, with the highest at 4.75% per year, equal to the ceiling on deposit rates for terms under 6 months as regulated by the State Bank of Vietnam.
With the above adjustment, BIDV is currently the bank listing the highest savings rate among the state-owned commercial banks (Big4).

HDBank bank interest rates today
Over-the-counter savings rates
Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank) continues to maintain a stable interest rate level. According to its listed schedule, over-the-counter deposit rates range from 3.5% to 7.6% per year.
Specifically, deposits with a 1-month term carry a rate of 3.5% per year, and the 3-month term is 3.6% per year. For the medium-term group, HDBank applies 4.9% per year for the 6-month term and 4.7% per year for the 9-month term.
For longer terms, the rate on 12-month type 2 deposits is kept at 5.2% per year, while the 24-month term carries a rate of 4.9% per year.
Notably, the highest rate at HDBank is currently 7.6% per year, applied to the 13-month type 1 term. However, this level is reserved only for deposits that meet the specific conditions stipulated by the bank.

On the online savings channel, HDBank continues to keep its interest rate schedule unchanged on August 4. Rates applied to terms from 1 to 36 months range from 4.2% to 5.6% per year.
Specifically, online deposits with a 1-month term earn a rate of 4.2% per year, while the 3-month term is 4.3% per year.
For medium terms, HDBank lists a rate of 5.0% per year for the 6-month term and 4.8% per year for the 9-month term.
In the long-term group, 12-month online deposits carry a rate of 5.3% per year, while the 24-month term continues to be applied at 5.0% per year.

Over-the-counter savings rates
Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank) is applying over-the-counter savings rates from 4.5% to 6.3% per year, depending on the deposit term.
Specifically, the 1-2 month term carries a rate of 4.5% per year, and the 3-5 month term is 4.6% per year. Six-month deposits earn 5.6% per year, while the 7-11 month terms apply a rate of 5.8% per year.
For long terms, Nam A Bank lists a rate of 6.2% per year for the 12-13 month term and 6.3% per year for the 14-17 month term.
In addition to the ordinary rate schedule, the bank still maintains a special interest rate program of 8.3% per year for deposits of 500 billion VND or more, with a 24-month term and approval from the General Director.

For online savings deposits, Nam A Bank is applying rates from 4.6% to 6.9% per year, higher than over-the-counter deposits across many terms.

Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) continues to keep unchanged its deposit rate schedule for deposits under 1 billion VND, ranging from 4.45% to 5.8% per year.
For the 1-month term, the rate is maintained at 4.45% per year; the 3-month term carries a rate of 4.65% per year. For deposits under 1 billion VND, the 6-month, 9-month, 12-month and 24-month terms all pay interest of 5.8% per year.
For deposits of larger value, rates in the medium- and long-term group may be topped up depending on the size of the balance. However, the general rate level remains stable compared with before.
